Working with Trenner Law Firm
Optimizing Your Experience – Working together as a Team
In order to help ensure that you have the best possible experience working with Trenner Law Firm, we want to share the following information with you.
Your Client ID. The emails you receive typically include a 4 or 5 digit reference number (or ref. no.). This is your Client ID. Please have this number ready whenever you call us, and include it in the subject line of any emails you send us. This will help us to locate your file faster and provide you with better service.
Updating Your Contact Information. Please remember to keep your address, phone number(s), and email address current with us, so that we can reach you. Having to spend time trying to find clients with outdated contact information, wastes time and resources that help us keep costs down. More importantly, if we cannot contact you after making reasonable attempts, we will close out your file, and you may lose important legal rights (such as, but not limited to your patent or trademark application going abandoned).
While this might seem like common sense, you would be surprised how often clients forget to update their contact information, and some clients have even lost important legal rights because we were unable to contact them in time.
Responding to Our Requests. It is important to provide us with information and/or your instructions in a timely manner. For example, when we ask clients for their decision whether to respond to an office action, it is important that you let us know how to proceed as soon as possible. We cannot take any action on your behalf without your express (written) instructions to do so. If you do not provide us with instructions sufficiently in advance of a deadline, you may incur additional fees and/or lose important legal rights (such as, but not limited to your patent or trademark application going abandoned).
If you have any questions, or need more information in order to make a decision, please communicate that to us. We are happy to answer your questions and help you make an informed decision.
Confidentiality. As a client of Trenner Law Firm, all information you provide us is subject to attorney-client confidentiality, and all information we send you is subject to attorney-client privilege. In order to maintain this important status, you must maintain all of this information in confidence. For example, you should never forward an email from Trenner Law Firm to anyone else (except for those having a need to know, such as to other owners of a business where Trenner Law Firm represents the business). You should take other reasonable precautions against disclosure, such as keeping all written communications in a locked file cabinet and/or encrypted on your computer.
